Jolly Wallabies charity series starts with a family cricket day followed by a Gala Dinner to support the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children’s Association of Johor Bahru

Johor’s premier social cricket team, the Jolly Wallabies, announces the launch of a series of charity fund raising initiatives, kicking off with a Triangular Charity Cricket Tournament and Gala Dinner onSaturday 8 October.

Held at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval in Mutiara Rini, with the support of the Dynamic Group and Leisure Farm, matches will commence at 9.30am between Johor’s Jolly Wallabies and two well-known cricket teams from Singapore, the Loose Cannons and TGA. Spectator entry for members of the public is free.

A Gala Dinner, also open to members of the public, will be held at Leisure Farm’s prestigious Bale Club from 6pm, featuring an international buffet and live music sponsored by Q2 bar. Other evening entertainment will include games and a charity auction featuring stays at the Chairman’s villa at Leisure Farm, BatuBatuResort, Double Tree Hilton in Johor and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

The tournament and gala dinner is the first in a series of fund raising initiatives supporting the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children’s Association of Johor Bahru, a non-government organisation that offers personalised care for special needs children in Malaysia.

Ralston Thiedeman, Chairman of the Jolly Wallabies commented: “We hope by spearheading inclusive events like this one we will encourage members of the public to join us in supporting the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children’s Association of Johor Bahru, and the important work they undertake year in year out to help children with special needs. The aim of this first event is to attract a wide crowd of supporters from both Malaysia and, we hope, Singapore.”

The Jolly Wallabies, which celebrated its fifth anniversary earlier this year, is a multinational team with members from Australia, UK, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Malaysia. This new fundraising initiative is a continuation of the work done by the Jolly Wallabies to raise funds for the Save the Malayan Tiger and Nepal Earthquake Aid campaigns.

The organisers would like to thank all of the event sponsors for their generous support: Dynamic Group, Leisure Farm, Batu Batu Resort, Double Tree Hilton and individual sponsor Mr. Wu Shao Hua.
