It was double joy for Brenda Jong Jing Hui as she scooped up two titles in Qualifying Round 4 of the Allianz Junior Badminton Championships 2025 in Kuching, Sarawak.
The 15-year-old from Chung Hua Middle School No.1 here in Kuching first took the Girls’ Under-15 Singles crown after beating Qiez Nur Marsyiella Mohamad Mahathir (from SMK Hajjah Laila Taib in Asajaya) 21-8, 21-8 in just 15 minutes.
She then took a bit longer to land the Girls’ U15 Doubles title alongside partner and schoolmate Eunice Chong Yu Qian denied Aizalea Izzara Kamarulzaman (from SMK Three Rivers in Mukah)-Maria Alexa Patrus (SMK Dato Permaisuri in Miri) 18-21, 21-6, 21-12.
What was significant for Brenda in her double victory was that she now has the chance to redeem herself at the Grand Finals in AJBC 2025 in Kuala Lumpur in November, after missing last year’s event due to exams.
“I had to give last year’s Grand Finals a miss because I had examinations around the same time,” she added.“
But this time around, I will be there in Kuala Lumpur for sure.”
