football iconKL Felda United saw off a spirited Selangor MPSJ to lift the men’s overall title of the FELDA/ FAM National Futsal League today.

The match ended 2-2 after regulation time and it a needed penalty shootout to decide the winner. After a thrilling display of futsal at the Melawati Stadium in Shah Alam, it was league champions Felda who went on to complete the double after beating MPSJ 5-4 on penalties.

While their men counterparts missed out in the final, MPSJ’s women’s squad came back from a goal down to upset Sabah 2-1 which also saw them clinching a grand double as they finished on top of the league table.

“I never expected it to go all the way into penalty shootout. The players really stepped up to the occasion today and I think we were well deserved winners.

“We lost concentration in the final two minutes and MPSJ punished us. I told the players to calm down after that and they played according to my instructions and at the end of the day we scrapped our way to the title,” said Felda head coach Zul Azmi Zulkifli.

Both MPSJ and Felda pocketed RM 150,000 in prize money for their effort – RM 100,000 for becoming league champions and RM 50,000 for the overall title- while the runners up of the League and Overall title took home RM 50,000 and RM 30,000 respectively.
