PRIME Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak led members of the Malaysian media for a round of golf at the 2014 Astro Media Golf event, which was held this morning at The Mines Resort & Golf Club.
Najib said: “I would like to commend Astro for once again organising the Astro Media Golf Event, which is important in continuing to forge stronger bonds among the media fraternity. The Astro Media Golf is an excellent event, which encourages sportsmanship while at the same time helps to strengthen the channels of communications. The Malaysian media plays a vital role in disseminating information to the public and I thank them for their support and commitment in this area.”
Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, Chairman of Astro said, “Astro continues to bring the best of international and local sporting events to Malaysians with over 14 dedicated sports TV channels. We are pleased to extend our customer value proposition to ground events such as the 2014 Astro Media Golf for our friends in the media as a gesture of our appreciation for their support of Astro.”
The 2014 Astro Media Golf was attended by over 70 golfers from various media organisations in Malaysia. Among those who attended included Datuk Seri Shabery Cheek, Minister of Communications and Multimedia and Datuk Seri Jamaludin Jarjis, Advisor in the Prime Minister’s Department.
Jamaludin was declared the Champion of Medal A category with a score of 37 points and Brian Martin, Executive Editor of The Star newspaper, was the winner for Medal B category with a score of 33 points.
