THE Malaysia Organising Committee (MASOC) Kuala Lumpur 2017 expressed confidence that it will achieve its RM80 million sponsorship target for the upcoming 29th SEA Games and the 9th ASEAN Para Games Kuala Lumpur 2017 despite the current tough economic conditions.

With slightly six months away, Youth and Sports Minister YB Brig Gen En Khairy Jamaluddin was optimistic that the sponsorship target for the biennial Games is achievable in two or three months’ time.

To date, MASOC sponsorship initiatives, led by YB Brig Gen Khairy, has managed to accumulate 77 percent of the overall RM80 million cash and kind sponsorship target.

The 29th SEA Games, which features 38 sports and 405 events, is slated from 19 to 31 August while the ASEAN Para Games is scheduled from 17 to 23 Sept 2017.

Today (14 Feb 2017), Ajinomoto Co. Inc joined the Kuala Lumpur 2017 family, sigining as Platinum Sponsor with the biggest cash contribution thus far. “This is indeed a special commitment by Ajinomoto as it became the first company from outside Asean region to commit as Platinum Sponsor of the Games. This is a major success for MASOC and I hope, more giant companies will step up and joined the Games,” said YB Brig Gen Khairy.

MASOC has set a sponsorship target of RM80 million – RM30 million in cash and RM50 million of sponsorship in kind.

On the breakdown of the sum accumulated thus far, YB Brig Gen Khairy explained: “To date, our cash sponsorship stands at RM18.05 million out of the RM30 million target, while for product or services sponsorship, a sum of RM43.9 million has been pledged, which is 88 percent of the RM50 million target.

“Of the overall RM80 million target, we have now achieved 77 percent…and this include the amount pledged by few other companies, announcement will be made soon.

“I believe we’re on the right track and able to achieve our target in two or three months’ tim, this is due to the current economic challenges,” he said after witnessing the sponsorship signing ceremony between MASOC and Ajinomoto Co.Inc in Putrajaya. 

Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Seri Zolkples Embong signed on behalf of MASOC while Corporate Vice-President (General Manager, ASEAN Division), Kaoru Kurashima represented Ajinomoto Co. Inc.

Also present were Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) President Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Jaafar, Malaysian Paralympic Council (MPC) Vice President John Ng and Chairman, Independent Non-Executive Director, Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad Gen Tan Sri (Dr.) Dato’ Paduka Mohamed Hashim Ali (Rtd), Minister, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Japan Mr. Yoshinori Kodama,  Corporate Fellow, General Manager, Global Communications Department and CSR Department, Mr Kenji Amo, Corporate Fellow, General Manager, Global Communications Department and CSR Department and Mr. Keiji Kaneko, Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad.

Ajinomoto Co. Inc became the fourth Platinum Sponsor of the 2017 Games, following the footsteps of Telekom Malaysia, NAZA, and sports apparel and equipment manufacturer FBT.

Earlier, in his speech, Kuroshima said Ajinomoto is proud to be given the opportunity to be part of the Games as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of Japan-Malaysia diplomatic relations.

KL2017: MASOC OPTIMIS CAPAI SASARAN TAJAAN

BERBAKI tempoh enam bulan, Jawatankuasa Pengelola Malaysia (MASOC) Kuala Lumpur 2017 yakin sasaran tajaan berjumlah RM80 juta mampu dicapai sebelum tirai Sukan SEA ke-29 Kuala Lumpur 2017 disingkap, Ogos ini.

Menteri Belia dan Sukan YB Brig Jen En Khairy Jamaluddin melahirkan rasa opitimis sasaran berkenaan dapat direalisasikan biarpun temasya kali ini berlangsung dalam suasana ekonomi yang mencabar.

Setakat ini, jumlah terkumpul keseluruhan tajaan berbentuk tunai dan produk serta perkhimatan sudah mencapai 77 peratus, kata YB Brig Jen Khairy, yang juga merupakan Pengerusi MASOC.

Sukan SEA ke-29, yang mempertandingkan 38 sukan dan 405 acara, berlangsung dari 19 hingga 31 Ogos ini manakala Sukan Para ASEAN ke-9 yang membariskan 16 sukan, dijadual 17 hingga 23 Sept 2017.

Terkini, syarikat ternama dari Jepun, Ajinomoto Co. Inc menyertai barisan Penaja Platinum Kuala Lumpur 2017 dengan jumlah tajaan wang tunai terbesar setakat ini.  Jumlah sebenar  tajaan, bagaimanapun, tidak didedahkan.

“Ia merupakan tajaan istimewa kerana Ajinomoto merupakan syarikat pertama dari luar rantau Asean yang muncul sebagai Penaja Platinum Kuala Lumpur 2017. Ini merupakan kejayaan besar buat MASOC, saya harap selepas ini banyak lagi syarikat besar turut serta kerana potensi pemasaran yang disediakan Kuala Lumpur 2017 amat luas,” kata YB Brig Jen Khairy.

MASOC mensasarkan jumlah tajaan keseluruhan sebanyak RM80 juta iaitu RM30 juta bagi tajaan wang tunai manakala sasaran RM50 juta bagi tajaan produk dan perkhidmatan.

Menjelaskan pecahan tajaan, YB Brig Jen Khairy berkata: “Setakat ini, tajaan wang tunai adalah sebanyak RM18.05 juta daripada sasaran RM30 juta manakala  bagi produk dan perkhidmatan, RM 43.9 juta atau 88 peratus daripada sasaran RM50 juta berjaya dikumpul setakat ini.

“Daripada sasaran keseluruhan RM80 juta,  jumlah tajaan sudah mencapai 77 peratus.. ada beberapa lagi tajaan yang sudah termasuk dalam jumlah tajaan berkenaan akan diumumkan dalam sedikit masa ini.

“Saya kira kita mampu capai sasaran dalam tempoh dua atau tiga bulan ini walaupun dalam keadaan ekonomi yang mencabar kini,” kata beliau selepas menyaksikan majlis menandatangani perjanjian tajaan antara MASOC dan Ajinomoto Co.Inc di Putrajaya pada Selasa (14 Feb 2017). 

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Sekretariat MASOC Dato’ Seri Zolkples Embong menandatangani bagi pihak MASOC, manakala Naib Presiden Korporat yang juga Pengurus Besar Divisyen ASEAN, Koaru Kuroshima mewakili  Ajinomoto Co. Inc.
