SELEPAS Brunei dan Manila, Laos bersedia menampilkan kelainan pada Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama Kuala Lumpur 2017 di Vientianne pada Sabtu (18 Mac).

Acara yang julung kali diperkenalkan oleh Jawatankuasa Penganjur Malaysia (MASOC) Kuala Lumpur 2017 itu bermula di Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam pada 5 Mac sebelum Manila, Filipina menjadi destinasi kedua pada  12 Mac.

Esok, pusingan ketiga Larian berlangsung di Vientianne yang menjanjikan kelainan berbanding Brunei dan Manila. Antaranya jarak keseluruhan larian yang meliputi  jarak 10 kilometer.

Di Brunei, larian berlangsung secara berdisplin, manakala Filipina tampil dengan sambutan berbentuk samba dan penuh warna-warni.

Satu sesi taklimat oleh wakil Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (KBS), N. Kumaran berlangsung di Kedutaan Malaysia di Laos hari ini (17 Mac). MASOC diwakili Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha KBS En. Nik Abd Kadir Nik Mohammad manakala Kedutaan Malaysia diwakili En. K Saravana Kumar, Ketua Canselor Kedutaan Malaysia ke Lao PDR.

Larian dijadual berlangsung tepat jam 7.30 pagi waktu tempatan melibatkan enam titik pemeriksaan, bermula dari That Luang dan berakhir di Stadium Nasional Chao Anouvong.

 

Laos promises beat of a different kind as Baton Run waltzes into Vientiane

TWO different cities, two different beats as the Rising Together-Baton Run waltzes into Vientiane, Laos tomorrow. The Rising Together Baton Run heads into this landlocked nation tomorrow (18 March) as part of celebrations to mark Malaysia’s hosting of the 29th SEA Games and also the 9th Para Games in August and September this year.

The event is being organised by MASOC (KL2017 Organising Committee) with the first run being held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam on 5 March, followed by Manila, Philippines on 12 March.

And towards making the Baton Run as seamless as ever, a coordination meeting was held by MASOC and the Malaysian Embassy in Laos this morning. Present at the meeting were En Nik Abd Kadir Nik Mohammad, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and K. Saravana Kumar, Chief Chancery of the Malaysian Embassy to Lao PDR.

The briefing, conducted by N. Kumaran from KBS, touched on various matters including timing, number and names of VIPs, the mechanism to be deployed and also the role of Datuk M. Saravanan, the Deputy of Mininster for Youth and Sports at the run.

Laos has promised a little something different for the Rising Together Baton Run this time round as it look to shift the focus for the long 10km long run so far.

Brunei had utilised a more disciplined-style of Baton Run while the Philippines chose a more upbeat carnival-like atmosphere with the ‘samba beat’ all along the route.

The Rising Together Baton Run starts tomorrow morning at 7.30 am local time with six checkpoints from That Luang as the start to the finish at Chao Anouvong National Stadium.
