As expected, the Malaysian women’s team picked up their second win in Group Y of the E-Plus Badminton Asia Team Championship  when they whitewashed the Philippines 5-0 here at the Sultan Abdul Halim Indoor Stadium in Alor Star.

Soniia Cheah started the day rolling with a 21-7, 21-6 win over Sarah Joy Barredo before the diminutive Go Jin Wei picked up the second point with a 21-6, 21-9 demolition of Airah Mae Albo.

The score was then pegged at 3-0 with Lim Yin Fun beating Thea Marie Pomar 21-5, 21-18 in a blistering 19 minute encounter.

With Woon Khe wei out injured, her place was taken over by former Malaysian No. 1 singles Tee Jing Yi, who  brushed aside Philippines’ Airah Mae Albo-Alyssa Leonardo 21-12-21-8.

The Malaysian girls then wrapped up the afternoon with their fifth point of the competition through Chow Mei Kuan-Goh Yea Ching, who triumphed past Saraj Joy Barredo-Thea Marie Pomar 21-13, 21-14.
