The battle between defending champions Muangthong United and former winners Buriram United are heating up once again as both teams raced to the top two spots at the top of the Thai Premier League 2017 table.

After five matches into the new season, Muangthong have maintained a perfect five out of five for the 15 points at the top while Buriram are on second with 13 points – four wins and one draw.

Muangthong or The Kirins’ as they are more fondly known as blasted Pattaya United 3-0 with international Teerasil Dangda just a goal away from his 100th goal of his career.

Adisak Kraisorn converted a penalty in the tenth minute with Teerasil finding the back of the net in the 58th minute as Mongkol Tossakrai fired in the third goal of the game two minutes to the end for the win.

On the other hand, Buriram were also on fire as they romped to a 4-0 win over Nakhon Ratchasima.

Jakson Avelino Coelho grabbed a brace with goals in the 17th and 40th minute as Supachok Surachat found the back of the net in the 20th minute. Diogo then finished things off right at the end with a penalty.

Elsewhere, Chiangrai United beat Bangkok United 3-0, Chonburi FC edged Super Power Samutprakan, BEC Tero Sasana overcome Sisaket 1-0.
