Joko Driyono, the deputy president of the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) said that there that is no plan to change the structure of Liga 1 so far.

He said this week in spite of rumours that has been flying around which saw Bhayangkara FC winning the Indonesian top flight, the league format will remained the same for the 2018 edition.

There are 18 teams in Liga 1 with three teams being relegated to the lower division of Liga 2 for 2018.

Some clubs felt that Liga 1 should have 24 teams being divided into two groups or conferences.

“Rules are rules and the final classification has already been decided following the end of the 2017 Liga 1 season,” said Joko.

“So far the rules stay. But if at the Congress afterwards, there are proposals to be considered then we will have a look at it and decide on it. Only the concerted agreement of the Congress can we see changes or otherwise.”
