A missed penalty did not stop Pahang from snatching a 1-0 win over Kedah on Friday’s only Super League match which was enough to give send the Elephants to wrest the top spot after six matches.

The place at the top, however, could change hands on Saturday when five-time Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim take on Perak club side PKNP (Perak SEDC) at the Larkin Stadium.

International Norshahrul Idlan Talaha missed his spot-kick when Kedah goalkeeper Ifwat Akmal, who has earned a recall to the national squad by coach Tan Cheng Hoe, saved well to push to the ball out.

The penalty was awarded on 26 minutes after Kedah skipper Baddrol Bakhtiar fell Dickson Nwakaeme in the box.

However, substitute Zuhair Aizat Nazri ensured full points for Pahang with the winner five minutes before the end of normal time.

Both teams had a fair share of the ball and scoring opportunities but muffed them all. RIZAL ABDULLAH
