There was no coming back for Malaysia this time around when they fell to a 2-0 loss to Vietnam in their final match of Group B this evening at the Rajamangala Stadium.
Needing the win to book their place in the semifinals, the Malaysians were done in by two quick goals in a ten-minute blitz from Vietnam as the latter booked their place in the next round as Group B winners.
Nguyễn Hiểu Minh finished from close in the 11th minute and Phạm Minh Phúc then added another in the 22nd minute for the win.
In the meantime in Group A, Thailand were 3-0 winners over Singapore, where after a first-half deadlock, Siraphop Wandee broke through with the lead in the 49th minute, as Yotsakorn Burapha fired in a brace (51st and 55th minute) for the full points.
