Vietnam staged a fabulous fightback to beat Thailand 3-2 in extra-time to be crowned champions of the Men’s Football SEA Games 2025 at the Rajamangala Stadium tonight.

Host Thailand had taken a 2-0 lead at the half through Yotsakorn Burapha in the 20th minute and Seksan Ratree’s 31st minute strike.

However, Vietnam narrowed the gap just four minutes after the restart with a penalty from Nguyễn Đình Bắc.

An own goal from Thailand’s Waris Choolthong right at the hour mark put both teams back on level as it then forced the game into extra time afterwards.

In extra time, it would seem that Vietnam were a tad more determined for the crown when Nguyễn Thanh Nhàn fired in the winner in the 96th minute to deliver the heartbreak to the host.

In the meantime, Malaysia took the bronze medal after beating the Philippines 2-1, with the winning goal delivered by Muhammad Haqimi Azim Rosli in the 43rd minute.

Danish Hakimi’s earlier goal for Malaysia in the 28th minute was cancelled out with an own goal from Muhammad Haqimi.
