Indonesia beat Malaysia 2-1 to move up to second at the standings as Thailand are closing in on their sixth Men’s Futsal crown at the SEA Games after beating Vietnam by the same score line at the Nonthaburi Sports Complex Gymnasium.
Indonesia, who had fallen to Vietnam yesterday, were not leaving anything to chance when they took the early lead through Holypaul Septinus Soumilena in the fourth minute before Reza Gunawan added the second goal in the 13th minute.
An own goal from Brian Ick in the 17th minute settled the score as Indonesia currently occupy the second spot with six points – the same as Malaysia but on better goal difference.
While Malaysia have already completed their campaign in Men’s Futsal at the SEA Games this year, Indonesia still have a game to play against host Thailand tomorrow.
In the meantime, Vietnam remained fourth in the standings after conceding a 2-1 loss to Thailand today.
Muhammad Osamanmusa broke through in the 15th minute for Thailand to take just the 1-0 lead at the break.
Itticha Praphaphan added the second goal in the 29th minute before Nguyen Da Hai pulled a goal back for Vietnam a minute later.
Vietnam will complete their round-robin fixtures tomorrow against Myanmar.
