Spanish cyclist Jaime Roson has been suspended by the International Cycling Union after an anomaly in his biological passport suggested doping, his Movistar team said on Thursday.
Roson, 25, is a recent recruit to the team and Movistar said the anomaly had surfaced in January 2017 “almost a year before his arrival on the team.”
At the time he was still with Caja Rural, a second tier Continental Pro outfit.
“Since his arrival in 2018, the rider’s comportment and the tests and readings on his biological passport have been beyond reproach,” said Movistar.
The team added that it would work with Roson to get to the bottom of what had happened but he would be suspended in the meantime.
Roson won the Tour of Aragon in May and placed eighth in the Tirreno-Adriatico in March. – Agence France-Presse
