Myanmar will take on Malaysia in a friendly in Yangon in a game which head coach Gerd Zeise hopes will sharpen his chargers in preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup later in the year.

Following the 1-1 draw against a Myanmar National League ‘Foreigners XI’ earlier this month, Zeise will be under pressure to shape the team which will hopefully deliver the goods in front of their home fans in November.

“Our team’s disease is in its finishing,” said Zeise, whose team needed a late 87th minute strike from Win Naing Soe to draw the game.

“Sometimes our strikers prefer to try and show their individual skill. They are over-confident and impatient to score.”

After the friendly and then the AYA Bank Cup in early June, there are plans to bring the team abroad for a series of friendly matches.

Tickets for the AYA Bank Cup will be sold at K3000 and K1000, and games will be broadcast on free-to-air TV.

AYA Bank have signed an agreement to sponsor another tournament with different invitees next year.
