The changes are taking place in Johor Darul Takzim as the four-time Malaysian Super League champions chase their fifth league title and a place in the AFC Champions League next season.
Ā
Just days after club owner Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim revealed the impending return of former coach Ulisses Morais and his disappointment with his last two foreign signings – strikers Harry Navillo (France) and Jorge Santos (Brazil), JDT has announced the arrival of Argentine hitman Fernando Marquez.
Ā
Marquez is a Belgrano player who is on loan to Defensa y Justica plying their football trade in the Argentinian Superliga and is one of the top five goalscorers in the tough league.
Ā
JDT’s caretaker coach Raul Longhi, in a posting on the Southern Tigers Facebook, said: “We are certain he (Marquez) will help strengthen our attacking lineup.”
Ā
However, it is not known of Marquez will feature for JDT’s home match against Perak in a top of the table clash at the Larkin Stadium in Johor BahruĀ on Saturday.
Ā
JDT lead the table standings with 29 points after 12 matches while Perak is second with 23 points.
Ā
Marquez comes on board just days after Tunku Ismail revealed that players “not performing” to the club’s expectations will not find a place in the team.
Ā
The Johor prince is not happy with the performance of Novillo and Santos and gave broad hints that their days are numbered.
Ā
Longhi also revealed that another new signing for JDT will be revealed soon.RIZAL ABDULLAH
