Mirza Batrisyia Aghnia Nazri from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) continued her fine run to lead Group A of the Girls’ Under-16 Singles AFFIN 100PLUS Junior Elite Tour Finals 2026 here at the Juara Stadium.
The 16-year-old had scored a double win on opening day with straight set victories over Sarawak’s Brenda Jong Jing Hui and Chong Jing from Johor, as she then recorded her third win over Kedah’s Lau Xin En yesterday.
And today, Mirza Batrisyia scored her fourth win in a row after beating Zafirah Izza Mohd Zamlee from Kelantan 21-15, 21-15 in just under half an hour.
In Group B, Annabell Gan Tze Zhen, also from BAM, showed plenty of spunk to be in full control even though she was tested on the first day of competition before emerging triumphant over Selangor’s Wong Yin Xuen 21-17, 17-21, 21-16.
Following wins over Shashveeni Gopalakrishnan and Ellis Ng Cai Lin from Johor, Annabell then chalked her fourth win today with a 20-minute 21-17, 21-14 workout over Penang’s Hawa Johari.
Group C leader Eva Tham An Qi from Selangor was served with a rude awakening when she fell to a 21-14, 21-10 loss to teammate Siti Nuraminah Abdullah today.
However, Eva’s earlier wins in the group over Low Hui Yein (from Perak), Kung Lee Ya (Johor), See Jie Le (Kedah), and Zi Yie Tiew (Putrajaya) have ensured her place in the next round of the competition.
In Group D, BAM’s Chua Jing Xuan stayed top after snatching her fourth win on a trot.
After overcoming Kedah’s Venus Lim and Ang Sin Yin on opening day, Jing Xuan once again made short work of Dayana Farisha Rizuan Sahari from Terengganu yesterday.
And today, Jing Xuan took just 29 minutes to finish off Chu Jing Xuan from Selangor 21-9, 21-13.
