Ahmad Syukran 50 celebrating his podium finish in Batu Kawan

Ahmad Syukran Aizat berharap dapat merencana strategi yang lebih baik bersama pasukan PETRONAS Yamaha CKJ bagi menyekat penguasaan Tengku Amirul Haffirudin pada perlumbaan Pusingan 3 Kejuaraan Cub Prix AAM Malaysia PETRONAS yang berlangsung di Dataran Tanjung Emas, 1 dan 2 Mei ini.

Tanpa kehadiran rakan sepasukan, Mohd Azam Omar dan Izrul Huzaimie Amran di barisan depan, Syukran akui agak sukar untuk menghalang pencabar khususnya duo pasukan Motul Yamaha YY Pang, Tengku Amirul dan Mohd Izzat Zaidi Salehan yang jelas menguasai saingan sepanjang dua perlumbaan lepas.

Saingan pusingan kedua di Batu Kawan menyaksikan Syukran beraksi bersendirian setelah Azam terpaksa menarik diri dari perlumbaan akibat kecederaan bahu manakala Huzaimie mengalami masalah jentera.

Pelumba kelahiran Terengganu itu kini menghuni tangga ketiga keseluruhan dengan 26 mata, 24 mata di belakang Tengku Amirul manakala rakan sepasukan Izzat di kedudukan kedua dengan 29 mata.

“Pelumba YY Pang sentiasa sentiasa berada berdekatan dan memberi kelebihan kepada mereka. Lihat sahaja pada dua perlumbaan lepas, selain kelebihan jentera, Tengku Amirul turut dibantu oleh Izzat yang berada di belakang untuk menyekat pelumba-pelumba lain,” jelas Syukran. 

“Sudah tentu kami memerlukan strategi berpasukan yang lebih baik untuk merapatkan jurang dengan mereka. Pasti lebih mudah jika mempunyai rakan sepasukan bersama-sama di hadapan berbanding secara individu, jadi kami perlu melakukan sesuatu sebelum mereka semakin menjarakkan diri selepas beberapa pusingan akan datang. Kami perlu menyekat gandingan mereka dari terus menguasai perlumbaan,” jelasnya lagi.

Bercakap tentang sasaran pada perlumbaan minggu ini, Syukran yakin untuk sekali lagi menamatkan 15 pusingan perlumbaan di atas podium.

“Saya rasa tidak mustahil untuk sekali lagi bersaing merebut podium seperti perlumbaan lepas dan mengutip mata maksimum. Namun, masih banyak yang perlu dilakukan memandangkan perlumbaan minggu ini berlangsung di litar baru. Litar ini mengandungi banyak laluan lurus jadi faktor kelajuan dan ketahanan enjin memainkan peranan penting. Mudah-mudahan jurrutera pasukan juga dapat menyediakan jentera yang cukup kompetitif.”

 

WE NEED BETTER TEAM STRATEGY – SYUKRAN

 Ahmad Syukran Aizat has reiterated that PETRONAS Yamaha CKJ need to focus on developing better team strategies ahead of Round 3 of the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship at Dataran Tanjung Emas Muar, Johor this 1 and 2 May.

He stressed that without the assistance of teammates, Mohd Azam Omar and Izrul Huzaimie Amran at the front, hunting down Motul Yamaha YY Pang’s Tengku Amirul Haffiruddin who dominated the first two rounds will prove to be an uphill battle.

While Syukran finished the previous round in Batu Kawan second, Azam did not start the race due to an injury sustained in qualifying while Huzaimie retired following a pile-up in the opening lap.

The Terengganu born rider is now placed third overall in the standings with 26 points, 24 points adrift Tengku Amirul while reigning CP115 Champion, Izzat Zaidi is sandwiched between the two with 29 points.

“YY Pang riders know how to stick together and this gives them an advantage over the field. As we have seen in the past two rounds, Tengku Amirul who has the better  pace will lead while Izzat will cover him,” said Syukran.

“Hence its important me and my mates form a team strategy so we can close the gap on them. Battling alone at the front has been very difficult and if this continues, YY Pang will build a huge point lead in the standings over the next few rounds. We need to put a stop to their run as soon as possible,” he added.

Speaking about his expectations for the race this weekend, Syukran said he is confident about finishing the 15-lap race on the podium again.

“I’m looking forward to the race this weekend and the aim is to finish with the top-three and collect maximum points. However, there is a lot of work to be done beforehand because the race takes place at a new venue. It features a lot of straight hence top-speed and engine durability is key. Hopefully the engineers can help prepare a competitive bike,” he said.
