Tokyo Olympics bound Malaysian gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi finally laid her hands on the elusive individual all-around gold in the women’s artistic gymnastics event in the 30th Sea Games in the Philippines on Monday.

The pretty 25-year-old won over the local crowd – captivated with her smiles – as she gave a near-flawless display on the vaults, bars, and floor exercises for the gold with a 48.050 total at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Indonesia’s Rifda Irfanaluthfi (47.800) won the silver while another Malaysian Tan Ing Yueh (46.900) settled for the bronze medal.

Farah’s next events are the women’s individual vault and the uneven bars on Tuesday.

“I always give my best in all tournaments. This is the first time I have won the all-around event and hope to do well in my other events. The locals are such nice people and I thank them for their support,” said Farah. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
