MotoGP raced for Valencia last year, raising more than âŹ1.5 million to aid flood relief – one year on, MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta’s visit reaffirms MotoGPâs commitment to the local communities.
MotoGP⢠returns to Valencia this weekend for the first time since 2023, following last yearâs devastating floods that forced the cancellation of the event.
Ahead of the season finale, Chief Executive Officer Carmelo Ezpeleta visited Cheste and Chiva, the towns closest to the circuit, to see recovery efforts supported by contributions raised from the Solidarity GP. He was accompanied by a number of local dignitaries including Luis Cervera, Director General of Sports; NicolĂĄs Collado, Director General of the Circuit Ricardo Tormo; JosĂŠ Morell, Mayor of Cheste; and Ernesto Navarro, Mayor of Chiva.
In 2024, MotoGP raced for Valencia at the Solidarity GP in Barcelona, raising more than âŹ1.5 million to aid flood relief and reconstruction. Todayâs visit reaffirmed MotoGPâs commitment to the local communities that have been integral to the sportâs history.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP, said: âValencia has always been a special place for MotoGP, and last yearâs floods were a tragedy for the region. We are proud to have supported recovery efforts and to see the progress made thanks to the incredible resilience of these communities.â
The last time MotoGP raced in Valencia, fans witnessed a dramatic title showdown between Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge MartĂn. MartĂn claimed victory in the Tissot Sprint, ahead of Brad Binder and Marc Marquez in his final weekend with Honda. On the Sunday, a tense Grand Prix saw MartĂn crash out as Bagnaia came through to secure the win and become World Champion for the second consecutive year.
This yearâs return is already a landmark moment â the event is completely sold out. With nine record crowds already in 2025 as MotoGP continues its trajectory of growth, our impact within and connection to the communities in which we race likewise continues to expand around the world.
