A double from hot shot striker Ilija Spasojevic gave Bali United not only a 2-0 win over Semen Padang yesterday but also confirmed their first ever Indonesia Liga One title.

Playing away at the Haji Agus Salim Stadium in Padang was of no consequence to the visiting side from Bali even though the home team did not hold out for a scoreless draw at the end of an entertaining first half.

But all it took was just a moment of brilliance from Yabes Roni down the right in the 51st minute with playback that saw Spaso’s heading the ball in for the lead.

And five minutes to the end, it was Paulo Sergio’s turn to provid with an almost similar cross that was latched on to goal by the waiting Spaso.

The win ensured Bali United the title this year even though there’s still some four matches to go to the end of the season.

After 30 matches played, Bali have picked up 63 points – 17 points ahead of second-placed Borneo FC.

The loss for Semen Padang meant that they are entrenched at the bottom of the table.
