It was a clean sweep by Thailand in the SEA Games volleyball competition as they snatch theĀ men’s and women’s volleyball gold medals at MITEC on Sunday (26 Aug).Ā 

In the men’s event, Indonesia struggled to break the deadlock when the defending champions remained vigilant to extend their lead from 16-15 to 25-16 in the first set.

The Thais maintained their momentum to win 25-22 in the second set.Ā 

But Indonesia, the nine-time champions, proved they were no pushovers when they fought back to win 25-20 in the third set.

But it was all over when Thailand kept their composure to win the fourth set by a five point margin to clinch the gold.

In another final, Thailand’s women team, who have been on winning streaks since 1995, won their 13th gold in the competition after beating Indonesia 3-0.

Meanwhile Vietnam claimed two bronzes through the men’s competition, defeating Myanmar 3-1 while the women team brushed aside Philippines 3-1.
