Four-time Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) have set their sights on winning the title for a fifth time plus having an eye on other titles up for grabs this year.

Club owner Major-General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim is also eyeing better financial gains for the team in terms of “commercial and business aspects” in a video recording that was uploaded in the Southern Tigers Facebook.

“I want JDT to be five-times Super League champions. JDT will be stronger this year as the quality and level will be different with the current players,” said the Johor Crown Prince.

It is clear that he wants JDT to play in the AFC Champions League. The journey starts on Jan 23 when JDT face Thai giants Muangthong in the second preliminary round match at the SCG Stadium in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

In the same video Major-General Tunku Ismail gave broad hints that he may quit as the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president soon.

“I will let go the FAM president’s post..perhaps this year or in 2019. It depends but the faster the better.”

The Johor prince was elected as FAM president on March 25 last year after former Kelantan FA president Tan Sri Annuar Musa pulled out of the race at the last minute.

Meanwhile, JDT will be having their 2018 jersey launch ceremony on Jan 12 (8pm) at Dataran Bandaraya, Johor Bahru.BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
