SuperSports 600cc contender, Mohd Farid Badrul Hisham is eager to get back into competitive action as he heads to Indonesia for the second leg of the 2015 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship this weekend.
Following an encouraging performance during the season opener at Sepang where he finished fourth in Race 1 and 10th in Race 2, the BikeART Racing Kawasaki rider will be pushing for a podium in the upcoming battle at the Sentul International Circuit.
Faridâs spirit is further lifted by the sense of optimism surrounding the team with former ARRC contender and 2011 SuperSports 600cc Champion, Katsuaki Fujiwara coaching Kawasaki supported riders.
“We approached the 2015 season better prepared and the results at Sepang reflected that. We had a great start but we need to continue our form to stay at the sharp end,â said Farid.
âRight now the team is highly motivated and the bike is competitive as ever compared to previous years so my aim in Indonesia is to get on the podium. Of course it would be great if we can fight for victory but realistically speaking, there is still some gap between the factory teams and us especially when it comes to race experience. Nevertheless I am certain we can match their pace and in due time, it would be possible to win especially with Fujiwara assisting us behind the scenes now,â he added.
Speaking ahead of his expectations for the Indonesian leg, considered to be one of the most colourful events on the calendar with a healthy crowd turn out, Farid commented, âThe Indonesian racing fans are always fantastic, and Sentul is a really fun track to ride. The combination of the tight infield and the long straight make the track layout very unique and challenging.â
Farid who has been riding for BikeART Racing Kawasaki for three seasons is currently ranked sixth overall in the SuperSports 600cc standings with 19 points, 26 points adrift championship leader, Zamri Baba (Musashi Boon Siew Honda Racing).
His teammate, Hazlanshah Mohd Noor is placed 11th overall with 11 points.
