# Faces Hong Kong’s Ka Long in the last eight

Former world number Lee Chong Wei is going great guns in the USD700,000 Tahoe China Open Superseries Premier in Fuzhou – as he showed Brice Leverdez a 21-6, 21-9 beating in the second round for a place in quarter-finals.
This is his second win in Fuzhou where he handed his opponent a thrashing by conceding below 10 points. In the first round on Wednesday the 35-year-old Chong Wei won 21-5, 21-7 against Hsu Jen Hao of Chinese Taipei in only 25 minutes.
And at the Haixia Olympic Sports Center on Thursday the Malaysian spent 31 minutes as he exacted sweet revenge over the Frenchman who became the sensation when he ousted Chong Wei in the first round in the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland in August.
Fully focused on the China Open after a spate of early round exits in the Denmark and French Open, Chong Wei – winner of the China Open in 2015 – will face Hong Kong’s Angus Ng Ka Long in the quarter-finals on Friday.
Ka Long ended giant killer Christie Jonatan’s run in Fuzhou. The Indonesian youngster who ousted third seed Lin Dan in the first round fell to a 15-21, 18-21 defeat to Ka Long in a 41-minutes encounter.
Top seed Viktor Axelsen of Denmark also made the quarter-finals together with second seed Son Wan-ho of South Korea. The Dane beat China’s Qiao Bin 21-12, 21-14 while Wan-ho ended Ren Pengbo’s run in 21-10, 21-17.
Meanwhile, in the women’s singles top seed Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei and second seed P.V. Sindhu of India also cruised into the quarters. Tzu Ying defeated Denmark’s Line Kjaersfeldt 21-18, 21-15 while world number two Sindhu made short work of China’s Han Yue with a 21-15, 21-13 win in 70 minutes. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
