Juan Torres Garrido has been unveiled as the new head coach of the Malaysia Under-23 team.
The 43-year-old Spaniard was the assistant to former Malaysia U23 head coach E. Elavarasan, who has decided to vacate the position and rejoin the national team set-up under Kim Pan-gon.
Garrido was the Head of Talent Identification for FC Barcelona (Catalunya region from 2016 to 2020), before he became the Head of Professional Youth Football (U23) for Granada CF (in Spain) from 2021 to 2022.
His immediate task would be to lead the Malaysian squad for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 in Qatar.
Joining Garrido as his assistant with the Malaysia U23 team is former Malaysian captain Mohd Shukor Adan.
