The largest global educational initiative, the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge, will hold its 13th annual World Finals event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 22nd to 27th September, alongside the 2017 FORMULA 1 PETRONAS MALAYSIA GRAND PRIX.

F1 in School returns to Malaysia for a third World Finals in the country, the destination having previously held the event in the city in 2008 and 2011. The Finals will be held at the Sunway Lagoon Resort, a destination that offers everything that the students will need for a once in a lifetime experience.
The plush Spa hotel ballroom will be the home of the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge World Finals 2017, accommodating the judging sessions and the glittering Awards Celebration Gala Dinner.  With a theme park, shopping mall and entertainment complex on site, there will be plenty for the students to enjoy when they are not hard at work with the World Finals competition.

Razlan Razali, Chief Executive Officer, Sepang International Circuit, welcomes the event to Malaysia saying, “Sepang Circuit continues to support the World Finals to encourage educational programs and initiatives related to F1. Developing and identifying potential great young minds in the field of motorsports in engineering, aerodynamics and technical designs is definitely in line with the circuit’s vision of its edutainment master plan in the next 5 years. We wish the teams the very best and especially the Malaysian teams competing at the World Finals on their home ground.”

Andrew Denford, Founder and Chairman, F1 in Schools, says of today’s announcement, “We have always been given a very warm welcome in Kuala Lumpur, which made it an easy decision for us to select Malaysia as our destination for this year’s World Finals. Sunway Lagoon has the extensive accommodation, banqueting and competition facilities that we need for our ever-expanding event, with over 500 students and guests expected to attend, as well as the judges and event team.”

“This is the highlight of many years of work for these students,” adds Andrew, “so it is important that we give the students the amenities that deliver a first-class competition, the location that provides on-site attractions and entertainment, alongside a Formula 1 Grand Prix. We believe that this year’s event will provide all this and much more, so that everyone will have a World Finals to remember.”

The F1 in Schools World Finals 2017 takes place with the support of F1 and with the assistance of Denford Ltd, Sepang International Circuit, The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Autodesk, FIA Women & Motor Sport Commission, City, University of London and UCL Engineering.
