The Malaysian Under-16 team fell to a 2-0 loss in a friendly that was played yesterday in Mannheim.

The friendly was played as prelude to the Whitsun Cup which will start later today.

“We had five clear chances to score but poor finishing, inexperience and a really good goalkeeper stood in the way of any possible turnaround. The Germans were physically bigger but we held our own against them,” said head coach Nor Saiful Zaini.

“We also had five PCs to Germany’s one but failed to convert any. Overall, I was happy with the performance and look forward to the tournament.”

Malaysia will play the Germany U16 again in their first match of the International 3-Nation Whitsun Cup.
