Wong Yin Heng from the Badminton Association of Malaysia ( BAM) scored a crucial win today to wrest control of Group A of the Boys’ Under-16 Singles AFFIN 100PLUS Junior Elite Tour Finals 2026 here at the Juara Stadium.
The 16-year-old Yin Heng, who made a smashing start yesterday when he chalked two wins from two matches played, was fully tested in his third Group A match when he took on Kohgulraraj Ravichandran from Pahang.
The Form Four student of SMK Air Putih in Kuantan, Pahang has been in fine form in the first two rounds of the JET this year but who would find Yin Heng a harder fish to net.
In the exchange that lasted a good 50 minutes, Yin Heng raced to a 21-11 win in the first set before Kohgulraraj stormed back to take the second 21-12.
However, Yin Heng pulled through to take the third set 21-11 for the win and also the lead in Group A.
In Group C, BAM’s Marcus Hang Yug Hwei was also in fine form when he took his second win after two matches played.
Up against Wyn Ong Yi Ze from Sarawak, the 16-year-old Marcus who has been triumphant in several youth tournaments last year, was just irrepresible when he ran off with the 21-8, 21-8 victory in 23 minutes.
Over in Group D, another BAM’s representative Ng Hao Tong showed plenty of confidence for his third win in three matches.
After yesterday’s double victory over Muhammad Amir Amsyar Muhammad Nur Izwan from Kelantan and then Amri Muhammad Airulsyam from Selangor, Hao Tong did not take too long to take his third win in the group today.
Johor’s Goh Wei Zhan put up scant resistance as Hao Tong coasted to the 21-8 21-11 win in 35 minutes.
