The annually organised Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) 100PLUS Awards will see the introduction of a new category this year called the 100PLUS Fans Award.
With this newly announced category, sports fans in the country, will for the first time, have the opportunity to vote for the athlete they feel delivered the best performance for the year. The athlete who receives the most votes from the fans will be announced as the winner at the awards dinner on April 10.
For the record, the main award to be given out at the prestigious ceremony is the Athlete of the Year. The SAM 100PLUS Awards recognises the best athletes, irrespective of gender, each year. Past winners include Datuk Lee Chong Wei, Datuk Nicol David, Pandelela Rinong and Azizulhasni Awang. Each year, sportswriters will vote and the athlete who receives the most votes will be declared the winner.
“This year, we decided Malaysian sports fans should also be involved in this prestigious awards programme. And so, we created a new category known as the 100PLUS Fans Award,” said Engku Isyamuddin Tuan Losin, Sponsorship and Activation Manager, F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd today.
“A shortlist of 15 athletes who had delivered strong performances in 2018 has been prepared by SAM and posted on the 100PLUS facebook where fans can make their selection.”
Fans are invited to submit their selection when the window to vote opens today and closes on April 7. Fans can visit the 100PLUS facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/my100plus/ to cast their votes and decide the winners.
